A beautifully coloured Scottish Stag antler and high carbon steel bottle opener.
Recycled whisky barrel oak was used for hilt and cap which enhances the natural colours of this stag antler.
I have tried to keep the whisky oak in its original state, as far as possible, therefore you can still see the blackened oak on the hilt. When making whisky the oak barrel is burnt out on the inside to enhance the flavour.
The stag antler has been polished to protect and maintain it. A piece with character, and maybe an aroma of whisky.
Comes with a substantial brown leather Celtic knot embossed scabbard and presentation gift box.
Ideal for wedding attire for groom, bestman and guests.
Measures 6.5" (170mm) approx.
Sgian-dubh (skee-en-doo). Although the primary meaning of dubh is "black", the secondary meaning of "hidden" is at the root of sgian-dubh. Courtesy and etiquette would demand that when entering the home of a friend, any concealed weapons would be revealed. It follows that the sgian -dubh would be removed from its hiding place and displayed in the stocking top.
It is now worn as part of traditional Scottish dress tucked into the top of the kilt hose with only the upper portion of the hilt visible.
All my antlers come from the Highlands of Scotland and each piece has been specially selected. Each piece has been specially treated to preserve and enhance the antler for years to come . Due to the nature of antlers no two pieces are the same so you are guarenteed to have a unique item. The item in the picture is the one which will be despatched.
